News flash! The hottest trend sweeping high schools is the G.B.F.! (Gay Best Friend for those of you who are “so not.”) The balance of power at North Gateway High is tightly controlled by three clique queens – the virgin prima dona, the rich girl diva and the Beyoncé inspired drama queen. Brent, the flamboyant visionary, hatches his plan to become the school’s first officially out gay boy and the prime candidate to be the G.B.F. for one of the queens. His best friend, Tanner is supercute and has no desire to come out, and he certainly doesn’t want to be anybody’s G.B.F. Of course, things go awry as filmmaker Darren Stein (Jawbreaker) channels his inner be-yatch again in a raucous romp that could very well be the love child of John Hughes and Tina Fey. A nice treat is Megan Mullally who is deliciously over the top as Brent’s über supportive mother. -SH
