Watercolors
SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2009 • 1:00PM
This exciting first feature from David Oliveras begins where it ends... in an art gallery, where Danny has made a promise never to paint his childhood obsession again. Quite an obsession, indeed. Gorgeous swimmer Carter enjoys being rebellious and open. His penchant for swimming in the nude doesn’t disappear just because he’s staying in young Danny’s home. Beautiful sequences and gritty acting make this a film a depressing
delight to watch, and the swimming sequences are not to be missed.
Breakfast with Scot
SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2009 • 3:00PM
Eric (Tom Cavanagh) lives for all things hockey. Now in his thirties, he’s managed to turn his stint as an ex- Toronto Maple Leaf into a full-time gig as commentator for sports TV. He’s living the dream! He and his partner Sam (Ben Shenkman), a lawyer, live discreetly on a tree-lined street in Toronto. Enter Scot, budding queen of an 11 year old, who is Eric’s mirror opposite. Dressed in vibrant colors, his mother’s charm bracelet and with a penchant for musicals and Christmas carols, he’s not quite the ‘boy’ they expected.
In Her Line of Fire
Saturday, JUNE 6, 2009 • 10:00PM
When the Vice President’s plane goes down near a remote South American island, he is kidnapped by rebel forces and held for ransom. It is up to his female Secret Service agent and a press secretary to infiltrate the camp and save him.
Mulligans
SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2009 • 1:00PM
Tyler Davidson invites his college buddy Chase home for the summer holidays and a secret is revealed that threatens to tear his perfect family apart. When Tyler’s mother, Stacey discovers her husband Nathan in an unspeakable affair, the Davidson family’s world begins to collapse. The summer is ripe with adventure, revelations, and betrayal as this family learns how to laugh, cry and love again.
Were the World Mine
SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2009 • 3:00PM
If High School Musical indulged in flights of homoerotic fancy, it might look something like Tom Gustafson’s Were the World Mine. But to truly capture the essence of the writer-director’s spirited debut feature, we turn to an ever more timeless source: Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. When not suffering the wrath of his homophobic classmates, Timothy withdraws into his imagination, where macho rugby players morph into dancing fairies decked out in go-go boy attire. Timothy first balks at acting in the play but eventually embraces the role of Puck and, armed with a magical pansy, turns nearly the whole town gay - with unexpected implications for his mother, his two best friends and the hot star rugby player.
